Three young soldiers, all of whom passed out of training barely a month ago, have died.
Two of them, Private Kesse and Private Yakubu Saagbul, died a few weeks ago after they got involved in an accident on their way to Ho, Volta Region.
One died instantly on the accident scene while the other succumbed later at the hospital.
Also between late Saturday night and Sunday dawn (17 June), a joint police-military patrol team shot dead another young soldier between Ablekuma and Tabora in the Greater Accra Region.
It is, however, not clear if Private Osei Cudjoe Williams was involved in a criminal activity as of the time of his shooting and killing by the patrol team, or he incidentally found himself at the wrong place at the wrong time and became a victim of circumstances.
Sources within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) say the military high command has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young soldier’s presence at the crime scene.
The Odorkor Police Station is also conducting its own investigations into the matter.
