Fire outbreak at Breman Asikuma

Bremen Asikuma (C/R), June 24, GNA - A fire outbreak on Tuesday destroyed the personal belongings of Mr. Adikah Cromwell Tsegah, a 51-year-old staff of the Agricultural Extension Service from Anlo-Afiandenyigba in the Volta Region at Breman Asikuma. The belongings of his wife and their children and an amount 15 million cedis were also burnt in the outbreak.

The items included beds, mattresses, four suitcases, clothes and the "O and "A" Level Certificates of Mr. Tsegah all estimated at over 60 million cedis including the amount.


Mr. Daniel Ekelliah, District Fire Officer and Mr. George Amoah, District Fire Safety Educator told the GNA that Mr. Tsegah and his family lived in the house of Madam Yankywa.


They said that Mr. Tsegah was on his way home from town at about 1800 hours, adding that, some few meters to the house he met his wife running, crying and shouting that there was a fire-outbreak in their room.


The Fire Officers said he run home to find many people trying to put out the fire.

According to them the house had been without electricity for four days before the outbreak and they were using lantern. However, the stool on which the lantern was placed did burn during the incident.


The victim and his family are now staying with their Church members while investigations are going on to ascertain the cause of the outbreak.


Mr. Tsegah appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the District Assembly and philanthropists for assistance.
