Accra Flooded

Torrential rain hit parts of Accra yesterday morning, causing floods in most parts of the city. The rains flooded a number of shops, homes, filling stations and offices.

Some of the affected places were the Darkuman and Dansoman junctions, Mama?s Inn, Abossey Okai, which is the nerve centre of the sale of second-hand spare parts, Zongo Junction, the Obetsebi Lamptey Circle and the Castle Road. Other areas were the Bank of Ghana Quarters at First Light, Alajo and the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

For about 30 minutes, traffic came to a virtual standstill as many drivers were reluctant to move for fear of being trapped in the floods. Some of the daring ones got stuck and had to rely on some young boys around to help push their vehicles out of the flooded areas.
