The Afosu Roman Catholic School won the second edition of the ZAK Touching Lives Foundation's annual inter-schools Quiz competition at Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

Afosu R/C School had 69 points while New Abirem L/A school took the second position with 61 points and Afosu Wesley Methodist School came third with 59 points.

For their efforts, Afosu R/C was presented with exercise books, silver and gold medals, textbooks, desktop computer and blackboard drawing instruments.

The schools that participated in the competition included; Success Academy, Hweakwae Basic School, Afosu Wesley Methodist School, New Abirem L/A School, Adausena Methodist Model School and Afosu Roman Catholic school.

At a grand ceremony held to present the prizes to the awardees, Mr Razak Nkrumah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation said, the NGO spent over Gh¢ 15,000.00 to ensure the success of the programme.

He said with sponsorship from Multipro Company Limited, the competition started with 32 schools in four circuits, but only six of them made it to the grand finale.

He said the programme is aimed at inculcating into the students the habit of learning to promote quality education delivery in the district.

Mr Nkrumah hinted of plans to extend the gesture to other schools across the country to ensure effective teaching and learning.

He, therefore, advised the students to take their education serious and to desist from immoral acts that could destroy their future.

Mr Isaac Okyere, the Birim North Director of Education applauded the foundation for the gesture and said it would go a long way to help improve the standard of education in the District.

He urged the students to take advantage of the programme to learn hard to take advantage of the government's Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.
