Mankranso (Ash), Dec 31, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly has appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to take over the payment of ex-gratia awards of outgoing assembly members whose term of office expires in May 2006. The members have also suggested that every assembly member should be paid five million cedis in appreciation of their four-year service to the State. This was contained in a resolution adopted at a day's emergency meeting held at Mankranso. In a New Year message, Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive, thanked the assembly members for their immense contributions to the total development of the district and urged them to keep it up. The Presiding member of the assembly, Mr Nicholas Owusu-Afriyie, asked assembly members to interact with their electorate before and assembly meetings. Mr Stephen Kwaku Balado Manu, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, thanked the members for their hard work and urged them to intensify their revenue mobilization to enable the assembly undertakes development projects.
