The National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Ashanti regional has debunked reports suggesting its plans to smuggle alleged thumb-printed ballots in favour of the NDC Presidential candidate, John Dramani  Mahama into the system ahead of the December 7 polls.

In an interview with Kasapa 102.5 FM, an NDC Communications Officer, Samed Akalilu, said the allegations are unfounded and an attempt by the opposition NPP to insult the integrity of the ruling party.

He said this was another desperate move and agenda to divert attention and also thwart the efforts of the party in clocking its 1.5 million vote target in the Ashanti region in this year’s polls.

“This is another sign of giving the dog a bad name to hang it. We can assure the NPP that NDC are more than focus on making sure that the 1.5 million votes will come true.We treat the story with the greatest contempt it deserves.”

Akalilu told host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

Police have retrieved  bags containing ballot papers, which have allegedly been thumb-printed in favour of President John Dramani Mahama in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

Ultimate FM’s, Justice Isaac Bediako said Police have confirmed the incident and have began investigations into the matter.

The bags were retrieved from Madison hotel, room 4, Justice reports.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Serebour Quaicoo, has arrived at the Police station to verify the materials.

At the moment, scores of NPP supporters and members have massed up at the Kumasi Central Police Station in protest of the emerging reports from the party’s stronghold.
