Kpone, Oct 21, GNA - The Kpone Health Centre on Friday received a generator valued at 22 million cedis donated to it by the Co-operative Credit Union (CCU) of Aluworks Limited, an aluminium company at Kpone, near Tema.
The generator will provide back up power for the health facility during power outage to enable work go on uninterrupted, Mr Frank Lomotey, Principal Health Assistant of the health centre stated. Making the presentation, Mr Baah Acheampong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CCU, said as Aluworks operates in the Kpone community there was the need for them as workers to show their appreciation.
He said the Union members bought the 2KVA generator with deductions from their monthly dues to support the clinic and appealed to the management of the centre to take proper care of the generator to prolong its lifespan in order to benefit other patients. The chief of Kpone Traditional Council who is also the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Nii Tetteh Otu ll, received the generator on behalf of the health centre. He asked other organisations operating within the community to emulate the gesture of Aluworks.
Nii Otu said the Traditional Council was putting up a laboratory for the centre.
He expressed gratitude to the management of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), which also constructed a maternity block for the centre.
