Petty traders transacting business on the streets of Asankragwa will soon move to a new market near the Asankrangwa Senior High School in the Amenfi West Municipality.
The Assembly started the construction of the market following complaints about the dilapidated nature and congestion of the old one.
Mr George Agyiri, the Municipal Chief Executive who conducted journalists round the new facility said it comprised; 100 market sheds, 25 stores, six warehouses, a spacious pavement that will be used for car park and a 12-seater water closet public latrine.
He said when he took over the administration of the Municipality, his major problem was the absence of a modern market for the traders leading to hawking on the street and creating traffic jams to travellers to Enchi, Bibiani and other towns in the Western North Region.
The MCE said the Assembly and Social Investment Fund committed GHS 100, 000 to get the project to its current level and gave the assurance that link roads to the market would soon be constructed.
In another development, a river called "Kwama" closed to Asankrangwa Senior High School's street which hitherto flooded and blocked the road leading to the School has been de-silted by the Municipal Assembly.
