Asuoyaa residents angry at government over bad road
Residents of new Asuoyaa in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern region have expressed worry about the poor nature of their roads.
Chief of the community, Nana Kwadwo Bekoimade in an interview with Adomonline’s Gershon Mortey said several appeals to the District Assembly had yielded no result and appealed to government to intervene.
"Even though we produce cocoa in high quantity, our roads are still in poor condition, making it difficult for vehicles to apply the road," Nana lamented.
Nana Kwadwo Bekoi called on Ghana Cocoa Board and government to consider the road under the Cocoa Road Project since they contribute immensely in terms of cocoa cultivation.
He also urged corporate bodies as well as NGOs to come and assist the community with a new school block for the primary pupils to halt the practice of pupils travelling as far as Koforidua to attend school.
“The only option apart from swimming through the river is to use this old railway but we can't carry foodstuffs and walk on it to cross the river because its too dangerous,” he noted.
They are therefore appealing to government to come to their aid.
