The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency, who has recently been appointed as Minister Designate for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi has congratulated Ms. Winifred Korangye Amoah, a 17-year-old former student of Bogoso Golden Star D/A JHS, and currently a student of Wesley Girls, Cape Coast for emerging as one of the 24-best graduating 2018 B.E.C.E students in Ghana.

The MP, Oteng-Gyasi told the media on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) when the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented “The President’s Independence Day Awards, 2019” to 2018 Best BECE Students in Ghana.

“I am very happy a female student from my constituency, Prestea Huni-Valley has made it as one of the best students in Ghana. She has made me and the Constituency proud and I congratulate her and her school for lifting the image of Prestea Huni-Valley”, she excited.

Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi stated. Ms. Winifred Amoah is currently offering General Science Programme at Wesley Girls Cape Coast.

Presenting the awards, the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo stated, “They have brought considerable joy and pride to their families, schools, communities and to themselves, and it is only appropriate that they receive plaudits of the nation”.

Mrs Oteng further reiterated that, “I am committed to raising the standard of education in Prestea Huni-Valley. It is important to note, that some of my students have benefited from GNPC Scholarship 2019. Just to mention a few, Michael Ampah, a student of University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa and Bright Graham, a Mechanical Engineering Student of University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER) have each received a four-year GNPC Scholarship to complete a four-year Bachelor Degree Programme”.

She stated that, together with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mozart Kwaku Owuh “We have provided 8-motorbikes to all Circuit Supervisors and a Vehicle for the Municipal Director to enable them supervise education at the Pre-tertiary Schools in Prestea Huni-Valley".

She thanked the President of the Republic, H.E. Akufo-Addo for instituting the “The President’s Independent Day Awards,2019”, and stated that it will motivate students to work harder.

The Municipal Director of Education for Prestea Huni-Valley, Mrs. Mary Vida Kwofie encouraged schools in Prestea Huni-Valley to emulate the good example of Bogoso Golden Star D/A JHS.
