Apam, Jan 8, GNA - Nana Arkorful Owese II, the Mfantsemanhen in the Ashanti Region, has appealed to parents to ensure that all children of school-going age were enrolled in schools and their basic needs provided.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, he expressed concern about the increasing inflow of children from the Gomoa Dago, Otuam and surrounding communities to Kumasi to engage in the sale of ice water to the disadvantage of their education.

''The Mfantseman Traditional Council would no longer tolerate such acts. Such children, their parents and those who assisted them to engage in such jobs would be dealt with accordingly.''

Nana Owese appealed to chiefs in the area to be involved and be more concerned about the development needs in their areas.

He urged them to join hands in the governments programme to minimize the spread of HIV/AIDS by re-introducing the puberty rites to control teenage pregnancy in their areas.
