Clergyman kicks against ethnicism and tribalism in the church

Kumasi, Oct. 09, GNA - Reverend Stephen Osei Sarpong, Second Minister of Adum Ramseyer Presbyterian Church has called on church leaders to eschew ethnicity and other negative attitudes that hindered effective propagation of the Gospel and unity among Christians. He said they should rather urged their members to love one another and lead exemplary lifestyles that were in harmony with biblical tenets and worthy of emulation.

Rev. Sarpong made the call when delivering the sermon at a thanksgiving service to climax the 30th anniversary celebration of the Men's Fellowship of the church in Kumasi on Sunday.

It was under the theme, 'That They All May Be One'.

Rev. Sarpong asked members of the fellowship not to shirk their responsibilities to the church and the home especially with regard to the upbringing of their children.

"We must endeavour to commit resources towards giving the best of training to our children or else we will live to regret later in life," he added.

Rev. Sarpong said members of the Fellowship nationwide should brainstorm and endeavour to revive the Presbyterian discipline that had eluded the youth and ensured the church's speedy growth.

Mr P.K. Mintah, President of the Fellowship, said the members were committed to institute pragmatic measures to facilitate evangelisation and other missionary work to increase their membership.
