Former District Chief Executive for East Gonja in the Northern Region has advised nominated Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) not to be carried away by their appointments.

The Kpembebewura Banbagn3 Ndefeso IV who is the paramount chief of the Kpembe traditional believes they still have another hurdle to overcome by being voted for at the assembly level and should rather focus on working closely with assembly members and giving them reasons why they should be mandated.

He advised the appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for East Gonja District Mr. Mohammed Tanimu in particular to work to the benefit of the people for which reason he was chosen.

Kpembebewura made this known when the appointee paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Kpembe after his appointment to receive his blessings as a chief and a former DCE for the area.

He observed that the district has a lot of challenges which are not new to the appointee urging him to use his new office to resolve them especially the perennial water crises in the area.

“You have to work closely with your Coordinating Director, Heads of institutions and stakeholders since they are the technocrats to assist you in the discharge of your duties to solve our challenges we are faced with as a district”. I know your government is rolling out more programs to create employment for the youth especially in the area of Agriculture and so I plead with you to make sure the youth benefit from these programs and it should be all inclusive”. He added.

Mr. Tanimu on his part thanked the Kpembewura and his elders as well as the president for their confidence in him and an opportunity to serve the people in the highest office of the district. He promised to consult and bring on board all the people who matter in the planning process to develop the district.
