The Offinsoman Association of the United State of America and Canada, has appealed to the Ministry of Education to assist them in clearing some educational materials from the Tema Port.

Mrs Ama Nimoh-Sefah, President of the Association, who made the appeal, said the 40-feeter container with large quantities of computers and their accessories, as well as exercise books, were shipped into the country last year to be distributed to students in the Offinso Municipality.

It forms part of the Association’s charity programme to promote effective teaching and learning in the municipality.

Mrs Nimoh-Sefah said the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Customs Division directed the Association to route their application for tax exemption to the GRA through the Ministry of Education, of which the Association had done but they were yet to receive any response. She said there is the need for the government and other key stakeholders to intervene to assist the agent to clear the items and distribute them to the students some of whom were preparing to write their final examinations.

Mr Jimmy Owusu Kwarteng, the Organizer of the Association, said about four years ago, the Association donated large quantities of beds, mattresses and other items to the Offinso Saint Patrick’s hospital.

It has also provided potable water to the Dwamena Akenten Senior High School.
