Gambling centres sprouting up in Akuapem North

The Akwapim North Municipal assembly says they are unhappy with the increase in gambling centers in the area.

The assembly says they have recorded more than two hundred gambling centers in the municipality with mostly children patronizing them.

The Municipal Chief Executive, George Opare Addo says children in the area are gradually becoming thieves with most of them stealing from their parents to gamble.

According to him, the Assembly has seized more than 100 gambling machines belonging to some Chinese firms.

He told Adom News majority of the companies are not registered with the assembly and not licensed.

“It is not part of us and it is not something we encourage because we have realized that the most vulnerable are children and that is our worry. We will invite these operators and prosecute them” he said.

He urged parents to pay close attention to their children's activities.
