The newly elected Presiding Member for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has promised to act fairly in the administration of the assembly.
Nana Adu Mensah Asare said though there has been a protracted impasse in the assembly, he is ready to work with all factions to develop Kumasi.
“I will not bring nothing special on board because I know there are laws already in the assembly. I will use the experience I have to revive KMA because we all know that KMA is dead. I will work with the assembly members to bring togetherness and I know it will work” he said.
On Thursday October 13, the KMA, after seven failed attempts fraught with conflicts, finally settled on Nana Asare as the Presiding Member.
He garnered 100 YES votes as against 22 No votes with one ballot rejected.
Nana Asare, who is also the Amakomhene, indicated that other districts were ahead in terms of development due to the delay in electing a PM, and he is calling on everyone to put in their best effort to expedite programmes that have stalled in the absence of a Presiding Member.
“I am going to treat all members equally. I do not have favourites and I will not have favourites. I will discharge my duties without fear or favour,” he said.
