The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Kasoa, Michael Mensah has clarified that under no circumstance did he shut down the Consolidated Bank (CBG) branch over failure to observe social distancing rules as reported by Rainbowradioonline.com on Wednesday.

The MCE in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm explained the municipality in support with the police and BNI went on routine inspection in almost all the banks in the municipality to evaluate the measures they had in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

But "I did not close or shutdown any bank as your reporter said. The exercise was a cordial one and we engaged with the banks to ensure the safety measures are adhered to", he said.

He commended the banks for doing their best but disclosed the team also pointed out to some of the banks whose measures were not the best to improve on what they had in place.

"We didn’t close or shutdown any bank. The exercise was a cordial one,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Rainbowradioonline.com has retracted and apologised for any inconvenience the publication might have caused the bank and the municipality.
