National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2020 presidential hopeful, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has said he will not rescind his decision to contest the party’s primaries nor would he be contesting because of other candidates.
According to him, his decision to lead NDC is to win political power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the party in 2020, and that it is not based on anybody’s candidature.
“I am not going to compete against other candidates. I am offering myself, my experience, my capabilities, my ideas to the party, if it needs a leader, so that we can move forward and capture power in 2020”, he revealed.
“My decision to contest will not be based on anybody’s candidacy”, he added in an interview on Metro TV’s ‘Good Evening Ghana’ show hosted by Paul Adom Otchere.
“I am the best candidate for this job and I believe I can do the job better than other candidates”, the former Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK under the Rawlings’ regime stated.
The NDC guru also used the platform to lash out at the Akufo-Addo government for doing little to curb vigilantism which according to him, has become rife in the current government in the last eleven months of their administration.
According to the communication specialist, Ghana has now arrived at the era of one term presidency therefore the electorates must ensure President Akufo-Addo exits come 2020.
“Even though in the past we were used to serving two terms-former President Rawlings served two terms; former President Kufuor also served two terms; we have now arrived at the era of one term presidency and that is why President Akufo-Addo must also serve one term”,the astute politician on one-one-one interview pointed out.
