IFPAD consoles bereaved families of Allied Air Crush victims

The Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development (IFPAD) on Friday sent a message of condolence to the bereaved families of the June 2, 2012 Allied Air crush in Accra.

The Foundation also consoled the government and people of Nigeria for the unfortunate tragedy in Lagos which claimed over 150 lives also on June 2.

In a statement signed by Shaibu Abdul Nasiru, Deputy Executive Secretary of IFPAD and copied to the Ghana News Agency also commended the security agencies and other rescue teams whose response to the crush scene helped prevented more disaster.

The statement noted that it was refreshing for high level government delegations including President John Evans Atta Mills, Vice President John Dramani Mahama and other leading political leaders to personally get involved in accessing the extent of damage.

IFPAD commended government for setting up a committee to look into the crush and call on government to make good the promise of helping families of the deceased.

IFPAD urge government to convene a round table discussion of experts within the industry to come up with a white paper on improving aviation standards in the country.**
