Kumasi, Nov. 10, GNA 96 Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, has pledged to give scholarships to brilliant but needy children who serve as guides to the physically challenged.

Madam Appiagyei was visibly moved on seeing children of school-going age accompanying a group of disabled persons who called on her at her office to receive a computer she had promised them upon request.

She said such children whether they were the biological children of the disabled or not needed to be given the right and access to education to enable them to become useful citizens and not liabilities.

Madam Appiagyei after personally donating one computer and its accessories to the group, also promised a 30 million-cedi cheque to 15 women belonging to the Ghana Blind Association (GBA) who had completed skill training in soap-making, palm oil extraction and pomade making to enable them to start up their own businesses.

She advised the blind women to form co-operative associations to qualify for credit facilities in the banks whiles also urging them not to be bogged down by their disability but endeavour to improve upon their living conditions with the skills so far acquired.
