The Western Regional Police Command has intensified its public education within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality on how residents can be security conscious in the face of recent kidnapping cases that has hit the Twin City.

The security awareness campaign, which is currently being taken in turns in the various Senior High Schools in Sekondi-Takoradi and its environs started on Monday, February 4th, 2019 at the Ahantaman Senior High School, Sekondi College, Achbishop Porter Girls, Adiembra Senior High School, Fijai Senior High School and then St. Johns Senior High School.

Spicefmonline.com understands that the Police Service is embarking on this personal security campaign at the various SHSs in the Region with support from the Ghana Education Service- Metro, NCCE and the Information Service.

According to the Public Relations Officer for the Western Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Oliva Ewurabena Adiku, it’s a normal practice for the police to give security tips to the general public.

DSP Oliva Ewurabena Adiku said “We are focusing so much on the Senior High Schools in Region because with the current cases of kidnapping reported to us the persons involved are of ages between 16 and 20 years and this time most of them are in schools now so we thought it wise to bring our education here".

She, however, stressed that the week long active will continue on Thursday, February 7, 2019 to the other second circle schools in the Region before they move to the Junior High Schools with the same campaign.
