The Criminal division of the Accra High Court on Monday, 8 January 2018 adjourned a rape case involving a Lebanese man accused of forcibly having sex with his 19-year-old maid, to Tuesday, 9 January.
The state attorneys were not present in court on Monday.
At the last hearing, the court refused Haddad Rabih’s bail application filed by his lawyer saying investigations have not yet been concluded, therefore, granting him bail may influence findings of the investigations.
The 39-year-old reportedly forcibly had sex with the victim around 5pm on Saturday, 2 December 2017 in the absence of his wife and other occupants of his household, after subjecting the victim to severe beatings for resisting his demands. The incident happened at Airport Hills residential area.
Mr Rabih was picked up by police from the East Legon District Police Command and was later arraigned.
