The Municipal Chief Executive of Evalue-Gwira in the Western region James Attah Kakra has reportedly ordered the NPP’s parliamentary candidate in the constituency to relocate her campaign billboards or risk having them pulled down by the assembly.
A letter addressed to the former lawmaker said: “the statutory planning committee of the Nzema East municipal assembly is to inform you of relocation of your billboard mounted within the Anto radio area opposite of Ghana Commercial bank of Axim.
“You are therefore to liaise with the statutory planning committee for the relocation on or before Tuesday August 30”.
The statement did not give reasons for the directive.
But speaking to Starr News, the NPP candidate said the move by the MCE is a deliberate attempt to take attention off his questionable wealth in recent times.
“He is just doing this to intimidate me as a political opponent who is preparing to take over.
"I have had my billboard there for more than eight years now and I haven’t had any problems so I don’t see how in the next 90 days election, a municipal assembly that does not even sit with its assembly members will write a letter and a create a statutory planning committee, that does not exist, and select a parliamentary candidate of the opposition to remove her billboard. The political party laws are very clear, I don’t think I will allow the ruling party to intimidate me," she said.
