As part of its corporate social responsibility, MTN Ghana today Thursday presented a cheque of GH¢5,000 and some items in support of this year's Odwira, celebrated by the chiefs and people of Akropong-Akuapem in the Eastern region.
The donation included MTN recharge cards worth GH¢1,000, drinks hamper.
Presenting the items at the Palace of the Omanhene of Akropong-Akuapem Traditional Area, MTN Senior Manager – Prince Nyarko said, 'MTN acknowledges the significance of the celebration of festivals and will continue to support the festivities for life-enriching experiences.'
He said 'because the Odwira festival celebrates the courage and determination of their ancestors in defeating their adversaries in a war, MTN hopes that the lessons that come with the celebration of this festival will further sensitize and inspire present as well as future generations of Akuapeman.'
Mr. Prince Nyarko used the occasion to express MTN's gratitude to people of Akuapeman whose constant support of its operations has helped the company to retain its leadership position in the telecoms industry in Ghana.
Receiving the items, Akropong-Akuapem Traditional Area Sanaahene, Nana Safori Abonua III, thanked the company for the kind gesture and continuous support.
The MTN company also donated items to support the people of Larteh to enable them to celebrate this year Odwira Festival.
The 2017 Akuapem Akropong Odwira festival is slated for October 2 - 8.
