Mahama, Rawlings storm Yendi for new Ya-Naa’s coronation today

Former Presidents John Dramani Mahama and Jerry John Rawlings will arrive in Tamale this morning for the coronation of the new overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

The two are expected to touch down in Tamale at about 8 am according to the Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC Salisu Be-Awuribe and be accompanied to the traditional capital of Dagbang for the historic event.

“We will be at the airport awaiting the arrival of the two former presidents from where we will move to Yendi which is the venue for the event”, he confirmed to MyNewsGh.com.

It has been confirmed that the NDC party and its leaders have officially been invited to the investiture of the New Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama, today Friday, the 25th of January, 2019.

“All party faithful, Executives and former position bearers are expected to be at the Tamale Airport, 7 am to welcome our leaders the leaders and to accompany them to the Investiture at Yendi”, a statement from Regional Secretariat of the party stated.

On Friday, January 18, 2019, the kingmakers who consulted the Dagbang oracles successfully completed the traditional processes and settled on Yo-Naa Abubakari Mahama as the new Yaa-Naa.

Yo-Naa was among four persons including Nyab Tampion-Lana, Nyab Kampakuya-Naa and Nyab Boling-Lana whose names came up as possible successors of the late Ya-Naa whose funerals have all be performed.

The consulting elders include Gushei Naa and Kuganaa who nominated the Chief of Savelugu to succeed the late Ya Naa Yakubu Andani II who died in 2002.
