Massive deployment of security personnel ahead of Samanpiid festival in Bawku

A huge number of police/military officers have been deployed to the Upper East Region town of Bawku ahead of the Samanpiid festival.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and ex-President John Mahama are expected to grace the occasion.

The event has in the past recorded violence.

The Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Kwame Ampofo Duku has warned that his men will deal ruthlessly with any trouble causer who will disturb the peace at the celebration.

“When the Vice President is coming he comes with his security and then those on the grounds also prepare for the security of all manner of persons who are here. The former President I’m told will be coming and we’ve made arrangements for him".

“The miscreants are already aware of the presence of the security, the police and military are here and other sister security agencies that normally beef up our strength during such exercises are here. Anybody who misbehaves will be dealt with by the police and other security around,” DCOP Osei Kwame Ampofo Duku told Joy FM.
