Kuntanase (Ash), July 16, GNA- The Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) has taken delivery of 1,875 bags of fertilizer from the government to support the activities of the agricultural module of the programme. The fertilisers would be used by the farmers in the cultivation of maize and vegetables during the minor farming season, which begins in August.

Mr David Manu, District Co-ordinator of the NYEP, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency at Kuntanase at the weekend, indicated that 60 bags of maize meant for planting have also been made available to the farmers.

He said so far, 100 farmers in groups of 10 would be assisted to plant either maize or vegetables during the season, adding that their farms had already been inspected and found legible for support by the programme.

Mr Manu said 60 other farmers were being screened and those who qualify would have their farms inspected and introduced into the programme.

He cautioned those who would benefit from the inputs to make good use of them, saying, "The sustenance of the programme depends on how they make good use of the support given them which is geared towards poverty alleviation".
