The Ofaakor Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Detective Corporal Michael Larbie of CID headquarters who reportedly led a group of individuals to besiege the Awutu Ofaakor Chief’s palace demanding the release of the body of late Akyeamehene Nai Kojo Amoashie over the weekend.

Nine other suspects including Philip Adjei, Abdul Razak, Ibrahim Mumini, Sharif Bukari Isaac Banor, Steven Gbadah alias Dodge, Enock Owusu, Enock Yankey and Steven Jakpata who were also arrested in connection with the crime have also been remanded into Police custody to reappear on March 24, 2020.

In an interview with Kasapa FM News Yaw Boagyan, ASP Alex Oppong Donkor the prosecutor in charge of the case indicated that a bench warrant was issued for the arrest of the first suspect because he refused to appear before the court presided over by justice Ebenezer Osei Darko.

Four people were shot and severely injured after some men numbering about 20 opened fire on dozens of funeral mourners last weekend.

The men opened fire around 7:00 pm Sunday when Asafo companies and Baamuhene of Odupong Ofaakor were preparing for rituals to bury the late Akyeamehene of Odupong Ofaakor Nana Kojo Amoashie.

Five of the perpetrators were subsequently arrested by the Kasoa Divisional Police patrol team.
