Quantity Surveyor to contest Akim Ofoase/Ayirebi parliamentary seat

Akim Ofoase (E/R), May 18, GNA - Mr David Oppon-Kusi, a 46-year-old Principal Quantity Surveyor, has filed his nomination papers to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries for the newly created Akim Ofoase/Ayirebi constituency seat.

The aspiring parliamentary candidate who is currently an Executive MBA student at the University of Ghana, Legon, attended the Obuasi Secondary Technical School and continued at the Adisadel College in Cape Coast for his advanced level certificate in 1979.

Mr Oppon Kusi who graduated in building technology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1987, a member of the Ghana Institute of Surveyors.

He acquired his post-graduate qualifications in the areas of Procurement Management, Contract Administration and Engineering Management at GIMPA, University of Birminghan and various institutions at home and abroad.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, after filing his papers, Mr Oppon Kusi said he had been an active NPP member at the constituency level and at the forefront of community projects. On his vision for the constituency, he said he would provide "a leadership that will galvanize the collective talents and resources of the people and direct them into addressing the perennial problems of under-development", adding, "We need to take advantage of existing technology in creating wealth."

Mr Oppon Kusi said he would also tackle education from the pre-school level and help to create environmental awareness. He promised a shared leadership that would empower people at the polling station levels with resources to enable them to function properly, saying "my leadership will be participatory and supported leadership."
