A renowned legal practitioner Justice Srem-Sai has waded into the rape allegations leveled against the President of the Ghana Bar Association questioning the status of the response issued by Mr. Tony Forson to the claim.

One Kuukuwa Andam revealed on Facebook that she has filed a criminal case against the renowned lawyer in Washington DC, USA.

According to the lady, the alleged rape occurred in the US in December 2012, and to buttress her claim, she attached what she referred to as the details of the hotel in which she was allegedly assaulted, as well as the communication between her and the GBA boss on Social Media.

In a response, lawyers for the GBA President said: “Our client, Anthony Forson JNR’s attention has been drawn to a post on one Miss Kuukuwa Andam’s Facebook page that he committed an offence of rape against her sometime in 2012.

“Mr. Forson sincerely and emphatically denies that he has committed any such offense against the said Miss Kuukuwa Andam. He maintains that the allegations are palpably false and in due course he will be vindicated”.

“Mr. Forson will like to thank all those who have by various means shown concern and support for him and his family during this trying period”

Commenting on the development on Facebook, Justice Srem-Sai wondered which part of the allegation was being denied by the senior lawyer.

“The statements look very much like a denial until you pause to ask yourself – what EXACTLY has the statement denied? Point is – if only we’re allowed to apply the same level of scrutiny we applied to the woman’s story to the gentleman’s public statement, we’ll probably be asking – what exactly has the statement denied? What exactly, what exactly, what 333xxxactly?

Below are details of the statement by Justice Srem-Sai

Yesterday, something revolutionary happened here – a woman named two gentlemen of the Ghana Bar as her rapists. Some questioned every aspect of her story, including her mental state (and it didn’t matter that the write-up was more coherent and far more comprehensible than a lot of the comments which questioned her mental state). On the other hand, anti-rape campaigners hailed her for her exceptional courage in a country which lives under severe self-denial of the existence of a culture of sexual abuse.

Then, one of the gentlemen, the very sociable and likeable GBA President, decides to issue a public statement through his lawyers. In CAPITAL LETTERS. The statements looks very much like a denial until you pause to ask yourself – what EXACTLY has the statement denied? Point is – if only we’re allowed to apply the same level of scrutiny we applied to the woman’s story to the gentleman’s public statement, we’ll probably be asking – what exactly has the statement denied? What exactly, what exactly, what 333xxxactly?

Da yie!
