A member of the National Campaign Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Samsom Kwakwa, has warned Zongo Communities to reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo or face the re-activation of the Aliens Compliance Order Act.

He said an NPP government would reactivate the Aliens Compliance Order Act of the 1970s in spite of some alien’s contribution to the country national development.

Alhaji Kwakwa made the remarks when he led the NDC Zongo Caucus campaign team to the Ashanti Region, whiles two other teams also visited the Eastern and Central Regions.

The three viable campaign teams are constituted by Alhaji Kwakwa to canvass votes for the re-election of President John Dramani Mahama’s second term.

The Ashanti region team visited Manhyia, Gonja Youth association, Asawasi, Akotia line, Coalition of head poters, Aboabo Dagomba line and Tanosu zongo.

The Central Regional team, which was led by Alhaji Arimiyawu Cool Younger, National Coordinator of the Caucus also visited Agona nyakrom and konyako, Kasoa, whiles the Eastern Regional Team led by Alhaji Baba Pantang, a member of the Caucus National Council also visited Suhum, Adieso, Akwatia, Nkurakai, Kibi, Bodwei, Akosombo, Kpong and Somanya.

He said President Mahama Government has shown much love to the people of people living in zongo communities by providing them with potable water, roads, schools and health facilities amongst other infrastructures.

Alhaji Kwakwa said there is the need to reciprocate the love shown them by voting massively for him to serve a second term.

He said the promises made by President Mahama during his first term campaign has been fulfilled and those promises include the completion of the first phase of the Tamale International Airport and the lifting of pilgrims from the Northern Zone to The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the construction of the Community Day Senior High Schools.

Alhaji Cool Younger reminded the chiefs and Imams of the introduction of the Eidul-Fitr and Eidul-Adha Muslims holidays by the NDC under the former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He said the NPP promised to establish a Zongo Development Fund was a liar, adding that the promise was in their manifesto since the regime of former President John Agyekum Kuffour.

Alhaji Baba Pantang said there was the need to intensify the door to door campaign to win more votes for the NDC which would confirm the re-election of President Mahama.

He recounted the achievements of President Mahama and his love for people living in zongos.

He said President Mahama would every year offer full scholarship to 80 female Muslims to study Medicine in Cuba to avert the discomfort with Christian male doctors treating female Muslims.

This, he said, had never happen in the history of any Government in the country and that the commitment towards the development of Muslims and Zongo communities was imbedded in the heart of President Mahama.

The Chiefs and Imams said the zongo communities and Muslims chiefs recognised and appreciated the efforts of President Mahama towards development.

They pledged their support for President Mahama and urged him to maintain the peace the country was enjoying before, during and after the elections.
