Residents attack Jakala Assemblyman

Assembly man for Jakala constituency, Ansuma Mahama has allegedly been attacked by residents of Bole in the Northern Region for not performing his duties.

Mr Mahama told Adom News the residents have attributed bad sanitation management and deplorable state of toilet facilities as well as improper handling of refuse in the area to his incompetence, a charge he describes as false and unfair.

According to him, he works under the supervision of the District Chief Executive of the area and it would be wrong to blame the Assemblyman and leave the DCE.

He said about 3,000 people in the area are not having toilets in their homes and depend on a dilapidated toilet facility in the area.

“The DCE is the not performing his duty because he is my boss and I take instructions from him. I remember I once told him about the problem but he chose not to respond and have allowed these angry residents to pelt me with stones” he said.

But the angry residents say they will continue to attack the assembly man for neglecting his duty which includes the construction of toilets to replace the existing one constructed in 1960.
