Robbery incidents: Police issue security tips

The Ghana Police Service has issued some security tips to ensure the safety of Ghanaians and other persons living in the country.

These safety tips come at a time Ghanaians are living in state of fear and insecurity due to the alarming surge in robbery cases and other criminal activities.

The country has recorded a number of robbery incidents, especially in Accra in less than a week.

Two daylight robberies were recorded in North Kaneshie; one on a man whose GHC9,000 was snatched away from him after withdrawing from the bank and the other on an automobile company, Royal Motors.

A Lebanese businessman was yesterday, February 28, 2018 robbed of GHC200, 000 and killed in the process in Tema.

Mobile money joints and a Forex Bureaux in the country have suffered some robbery attacks as well.

To this effect, the Ghana Police Service in a communique signed by Director General of Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu has come up with some security tips to alleviate these robbery incidents.

Among these tips, persons operating businesses that involve always handling money have been advised to desist from carrying, depositing or withdrawing bulk sum of money from the bank.

According to the tips “In case of any attack, do not resist robbers demand for your money or any of your valuables.”

Money Money agents have also been advised to “carefully choose their locations where they operate their businesses and consider security as priority.”
