Security personnel in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Regional capital, are on a manhunt for a mentally deranged person who allegedly set a furniture shop at Ahodwo roundabout within the Kumasi Metropolis on fire on earlier honours of Sunday, MyNewsGh.com reports.
“We are going to investigate possible circumstances that led to this disaster…we will arrest and persecute suspects behind it”, Police personnel who supported officials of the Ghana National Fire Service to douse the inferno revealed to MyNewsGh.com at the scene.
A number of completed products and others that were being manufactured were on Sunday morning reduced to ashes as a result of the fire that last for about three hours.
According to owners of the shop, a mentally deranged male, currently on the run had set fire to cook food close to the shop but out of carelessness it sparked and light up the whole shop.
Attempts to douse the inferno proved futile as thick smoke which it started with suddenly burst into flames.
Meanwhile, the owner of the furniture shop in his mid-forties collapsed at the scene when he arrived to see the extent of damage caused to property running into several hundreds of thousands of cedis.
The man whose name was readily available could not stand the shock and the extent of damage caused to his investments as he looked on while firefighters and residents were seriously trying to douse the inferno.
