The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of South Tongu, Emmanuel Louis Agamah has said the Distric Security Council (DISEC) is picking up credible information that will lead to the arrest of the killers of the Assemblyman for Sogakope South Electoral Area, Mr Marcus Mawutor Adzahli.

Mr Agamah has, therefore, called for calm within the area as the Police conducts further investigations into the matter.

Speaking in an interview with Kwabena Prah Jnr (The Don) on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Tuesday, 3 March 2020, Mr Agamah said: “There is hope that the culprits will be arrested. We are picking up credible information and so I will call for calm as the Police conducts further investigations into the matter.”

Residents in Sogakope in the Volta Region on Monday, 2 March 2020 stormed the local police station in anger over the killing of the Assemblyman.

They were joined in solidarity by some residents of Sokpe, a neighbouring town, to express their anger at the police for not responding swiftly to distress calls by the Assemblyman before his murder.

The police had to fire warning shots to control and keep the crowd at bay.

Prior to storming the police station, the protesters blocked the Aflao-Accra road at the end of the Lower Volta bridge at Sogakope just as they did on Sunday.
