The former President of the Republic and the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has been admonished to contrive alternative ideas, policies and programmes that would inure to his re-election bid instead of hauling insults on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Manhyia.

Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, the Chief of Agric Nzema, a suburb of Kumasi, in an interview, has expressed disgust about the deliberate orchestration by Mr. Mahama and his party members to attack the Asantehene over the true state of affairs he gave at a recent United Nations Conference.

According to the Agric Nzema Chief, the character assassinations Mr Mahama and his party gurus have adopted to denigrate the Asantehene will be counter-productive as that can never win them power in 2020.

‘’The attacks on Manhyia Palace and the King won’t do them any good. They should know that no matter the attacks and character assassination, the Asantehene and the Asante Kingdom will continue to remain strong and recognized across the globe’’ Nana Nkansah Boadu emphasized.

To him, the current administration under the able leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is busily implementing social-intervention and laudable policies and programmes which, he says, are helping the ordinary Ghanaian, and that should be the focus of Mahama.

He mentioned the Free Senior High School programme, Planting for Food and Jobs, amongst others which have impacted positively on the lives of the Ghanaian citizenry and added that the NDC should spend time thinking along those lines rather than engaging in insults and mudslinging.

Former President Mahama has come under oceans of criticisms for labeling the Asantehene a liar after his speech at the United Nations which was indicative of the fact that but for his sterling role, the former president wouldn’t have conceded defeat, a situation Otumfuo Osei Tutu II described could have plunged the nation into chaos.

In a rejoinder signed by his former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Mr. Mahama categorically described the statement made by the Asantehene to be false and that nothing akin to what Otumfuo alluded to at the UN Conference transpired and that what he said was a pure invention of his own imagination.

Several groups in the Ashanti Region have called on the former President to render an unqualified apology to the Asantehene and Asanteman else he would face their wrath.
