The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ahobresea Ye Group of Companies in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region, Mr. Dennis Mensah Nkrumah popularly known as Kwame Ampong has bemoaned the lack of enough coverage of events and the social needs of the people of the area by the Ghanaian Media, except GhanaWeb which he commended for mostly cover stories from the Municipality.
Kwame Ampong was speaking to the media who visited his ultra-modern building with modern state of the art equipment for the establishment of a radio station soon to be launched at Asankrangwua in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality in the Western Region of Ghana.
Mr Kwame Ampong did not mess words when he openly expressed his sentiment for the unfair treatment given to the people of Wassa Amenfi in general by Ghanaian Media.
He said the only time the Municipality received a lot of Media coverage was when the then hardworking Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Kofi Asanti resigned and there was a by-election followed by saddened death of their another Member of Parliament Honorable Jantuan and there was another by-election making the Constituency the only one on Ghana that had two by-elections in the fourth Republican Constitution, apart from that the good people of Wassa Amenfi West have been cut off from the Media space in Ghana despite a lot of developmental achievements choked by the Municipality through its Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. George Agyiri.
He, therefore, seized the opportunity to appeal to the Media to rely on the New Radio station that will soon be launched for many of their stories from the Municipality and the Wassa Amenfi as a whole.
The Media men present were taking around the building and also inspected the latest radio equipment already fixed to be launched soon and they were shocked to see the state of the arts radio equipment available for the station and promised the CEO they will be relying on the station for their credible News when the station is launched soon.
Mr. Ampong was also not happy many of the Media houses mostly concentrate their stories in the big cities leaving out the fewer privilege communities where News are abundant.
He gave thanks to the good Lord, Hon. Kofi Asanti and the Municipality Chief Executive Honourable Agyiri for their great support and prayers including others who wish to remain unknown for now.
Mr Kwame Ampong said he hopes the New station when launched should employ the indigenes to increase the employment rate at the Municipality.
In other development, the MCE of the area Hon. George Agyiri made a passionate appeal to the electorates to live in peace and harmony.
He took the Media to many important sites including a new market and a New lorry station and other important developmental projects he is undertaking and are at 95% complete.
