A Deputy Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Patrick Boamah, has parried a failure tag given his outfit by the public.

President Akufo-Addo last month launched the National Sanitation Campaign with a call on Ghanaians to treat every day as sanitation day.

As part of the campaign, the creation of a National Sanitation Brigade was announced to enforce sanitation laws nationwide.

Sanitation watchers and a section of the public have accused the Ministry of sleeping on the job as filth engulfs the capital city.

However speaking to Starr News, the Okaikoi Central MP argued a year is not enough to address the poor sanitary conditions in the country.

“Sanitation issue is a process. It is not an event. You can’t create a Ministry in March and expect the Ministry to deal with every issue of sanitation that has been with us for ages in ten months or eleven months.

“People are not being fair. It is a baby Ministry that ought to go through a certain process and that is what the Ministry is doing,” he told Starr News’ Parliamentary Correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan Tuesday December 19.
