Woman, 72, forces house help to drink urine

A 72-year-old woman has forced her 13-year-old house help to drink 1.5 liter bottle of urine in Tema.

The suspect, Emma Boahene, made her house help to drink the urine as a punishment for urinating into 1.5 liters Voltic bottle at night.

According to the Tema Regional Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng, the old woman from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region claimed, the victim has on countless occassions flouted her instructions to urinate outside and not in the Voltic bottle because she does not dispose it off in the mornings.

But the 13-year-old who feels unsafe urinating outside the house at night said, she uses the bottle to protect her life.

On Friday, August 12, 2016, the accused assaulted and forced the victim to drink her urine in the 1.5 liter bottle as punishment for not pouring it out in the morning.


The victim narrated her ordeal to a friend when she was sent to the market by the old woman to purchase some items.

A report was subsequently lodged at the Tema Community One police and the 72-year-old, Emma Boahene was arrested.

ASP Juliana Obeng said the woman admitted coercing the victim to drink the urine to deter her from urinating into the bottle against her instructions.

Emma Boahene has since been charged with emotional and psychological torture and the victim has been treated anddischarged from the Tema General Hospital.
