Kpembe-Wura Babanye outdoored
The enskinned Kpembe-wura Babanye known in private life as Bismarck Haruna Deri, was on Sunday outdoored at a well attended ceremony in Kpembe .
Kpembe-Wura Babanye who was a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the 2000 elections in the Salaga constituency, served as a District Chief Executive (DCE) for the then East Gonja District between 2001 and 2005.
It was an opportunity for a display of Gonja culture in Kpembe with Chiefs, Elders, Princes, Princesses and the people of the area all dressed in their beautiful Gonja smocks and other regalia to commemorate the occasion.
Dignitaries from the various political divide were also in attendance.
Singbunwura Haruna Dari Bismark prior to his new position was the head of the Singbung gate of Kpembe.
The late Paramount Chief of the Kpembe Traditional Area Kpembewura Alhaji Abubakari Sulemana Nyintchubore who died a couple of a month ago was from Kanyase gate.
By the rotation system of Kpembe Traditional Area Chieftaincy of Gonja, the Singbun gate is next and so Haruna Dari as the Singbunwura succeeds. The next gate is Lepo. (*Note: The head of the Lepo gate is not the Lepowura).
The relatively young Chief Haruna Dari Bismark began his Chieftaincy journey as Kijipouwura and later Labawura before becoming Lambowura. He was enskined as Singbunwura of the Kpembe Traditional Area on Saturday, 11th October, 2014.
During his private life the nominated Kpembewura was Teacher and a politician.
