Zoomlion collaborates with GIMPA students to clean Dome Market

Ghana’s foremost waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana limited has step up its efforts in ensuring a clean community by joining forces with students of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) to undertake a massive clean-up exercise at the Dome market.

The exercise witnessed staff of Zoomlion and students busily de-silting drains, sweeping, collecting heaps of refuse and educating traders and patrons of the market on the need to keep their environment clean.

The Communications officer of Zoomlion, Mr. James Deku who led the team to undertake the exercise in an interviewed explained that Zoomlion in its quest to whip enthusiasm among the public towards keeping the environment clean is collaborating with various community groups to undertake various clean up exercises.

Mr. Deku revealed that the partnership with students of Gimpa and other community group members the company has over the years engaged in cleaning activities is to demonstrate to the general public that, keeping the environment clean is a shared responsibility.

He said the only way that Ghana can achieve its ideal sanitation status is for all of its citizens to take responsibility of its environs and ensure that they are kept clean.

He added that the choice of the Dome market for the exercise has been very helpful considering the huge quantum of waste that has been cleared out of the market.

The Students Representative Council (SRC) President of Gimpa, Mr. Samuel Anim Addo who participated in the exercise expressed his gratitude to Zoomlion for its continuous support in ensuring that communities are kept clean.

He appealed to the public to be interested in keeping their environments clean to help avert diseases such as Cholera, Malaria among others.
