Parents Peer Support Forum (PPSF), a young but dynamic organization has held its maiden seminar in Accra.

It drew a very large number of parents predominantly young ones from across the country to the four-hour comprehensive sessions.

The PPSF is a Non-Governmental Organization, which aims at achieving confident and joyous parenting through knowledge acquisition from fellow parents and professionals in or related to the child care industry.

Emceed by Joy FM’s Nathaniel Attoh, It created a favourable platform for parents present at the occasion to network as well as there was stands for the sale of nutritional foods, and educational reading materials for children.

Well-endowed resource persons like Ketaki Shanker, Regional Manager for Learning Time, threw more light on the topic, ‘Developing a 0-8 year reader’ and its importance to the child.

“Children are precious assets and as parents we must set the necessary habits especially reading to get the attentions of our kids on books in their formative years.”

Another resource person, Richard Akita, CEO of Launchpad who spoke on ‘Parenting 0-8 year child; Do’s and Don’ts’, emphasised the importance of learning best practices and applying them. He urged parents to celebrate the uniqueness and authenticity of their kid’s traits to get the best out of them saying “All children are not the same so stop comparing one to the other. If you do that you are not creating a great future for the child. "Enjoy that authenticity, encourage them and allow them to be individuals because it is through their individuality they develop their independence.” PPSF would focus on quarterly forums all year alongside other parenting forums and clinics designed for parents.

PPSF is the brain child of Mr and Mrs Nathaniel Attoh and received massive support from Joy FM.
