The Ashanti regional police command has stated that unregistered motor bikes and vehicles will not be allowed on the region’s roads without authorization starting Monday, July 31, 2017.

The regional commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah explained that motorists who ride such unregistered motor bikes and vehicles are targets of criminals and armed robbers.

Speaking at the police headquarters in Kumasi, DCOP Ken Yeboah insisted, “All persons using unregistered vehicles, people using DV vehicles, DP number plates will not be allowed to use it without authorization“.

“It has come to the notice of the police that drivers using the DP and DV number plates are always targets of criminals and sometimes the criminals after taking the vehicles from them also use these vehicles to commit crime making it very difficult for the police to arrest the perpetrators,’ he said.

DCOP Yeboah recounted incidents where the police have found it difficult detecting crime scene vehicles because their trade number plates had been quickly removed after the crime.

He warned that “anybody found flouting the new directives will be prosecuted.”
