The assemblyman was arrested for defecating in the Dentsedo Line in Elmina
Assemblyman for the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region has been arrested for defecating on the beach by the municipality's task force.
According to the KEEA Municipal Environmental Officer, Mr. Alex Kwamena Damptey, the Assemblyman along with four other individuals were picked up by the task force in the early hours of the morning in the middle of his bowel movement.
Speaking in an interview with Adom FM, Mr. Alex Kwame Damptey stated said the Assemblyman, who's said to be called Honorable Clemens, was arrested defecating in the Dentsedo Line in Elmina.
“He was arrested by the task force in the early hours while he was busily easing himself at the beach…no one came to report to us, the task force caught him in the act.” Said Mr. Damptey.
According to Mr. Damptey, KEEA was one of the municipalities severely hit by the cholera outbreak which occurred a couple years ago, and that this is what prompted the Municipality to take tough measures against open defecation.
"...hence we vouched to stop open defecation,” he stated. Mr. Damptey went on to say that the Assembly would proceed to make an example of the embarrassed Assemblyman in order for his case to serve as a deterrent others in the area. The Assemblyman and the four others have been handed over to local police since his arrest.
