Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh sweeping rubbish collected from a gutter
Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has shared on his Facebook wall, what he did on Labour Day to contribute his quota to improving national sanitation.
"I led my constituents this morning, in a clean-up exercise in parts of Manhyia South to mark May Day," the post read.
The Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency gathered some members in his jurisdiction to clean up the streets.
The clean-up exercise which begun at 6am Tuesday morning saw the minister and others who accompanied him clean the streets from the St. Anne’s School near the St. Anne’s Anglican Church to the Manhyia Palace.
In his post, Dr. Prempeh shared his belief that people who work together are bound to stay together, suggesting the need for harmony among Ghanaians in every area of the economy.
"A community that works together, stays together. I was impressed with the enthusiasm of my people to communally rid their environment of all filth and keep Manhyia South as one of the cleanest constituencies in the region," he noted.
Meanwhile, workers across the country in apparels decorated with May Day and the TUC logo converged at several parks nationwide to be addressed by political authorities and leaders of the TUC in their respective regions, while the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressed the national parade in Kumasi.
This years' celebration was on the theme, "Uniting Workers for Social and Economic Advancement".
