Newly installed Drobomanhene swearing oath of allegiance
Forthwith after the burial of the late Omanhene for the Drobo Traditional Area, a new Chief has been installed, attracting commendations from many including the Brong Ahafo House of Chiefs as well as the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The new Drobomanhene, Nana Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II was installed on Monday, May 14, following the observance of the necessary customs and rites.
His predecessor, the late Beyeeman Bosea Gyinantwi IV who ruled for 37 years, died in January this year and was buried after midnight on Sunday, May 13.
At a colourful swearing-in ceremony, the new Omanhene, Nana Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, known in private life as Mr Wilson Benneh, swore an oath of allegiance to the Omanhemaa, Nana Yaa Ansua and the people of Droboman as per custom.
After him, the kingmakers including the Gyasahene, Krontihene, Benkumhene among others in turn also swore oaths to the new Omanhene.
Nana Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II will lead the Drobo State, which comprises forty-four (44) towns and villages within the Jaman South Municipality of the Brong Ahafo region.
In his message, the newly installed traditional leader expressed appreciation to the kingmakers and people of Droboman for entrusting him with the leadership mantle.
The new Drobomanhene, who is a development planner and policy analyst by profession, pledged to work in harmony with all and sundry toward advancing the development of Droboman.
Nana Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II added that he would at all times avail himself to his people and seek the advice from the Traditional Council while ensuring the maintenance of peace among clans and units that form the Drobo State.
He noted that he would continue the work of his predecessor, vowing to be steadfast in protecting the Stool and people of Droboman.
The newly installed Omanhene was outdoored to the public in a massive, euphoric procession through the principal streets of the town.
President Akufo-Addo who attended the funeral of late Beyeeman Bosea Gyinantwi IV commended the Drobo Traditional Council for peacefully choosing a successor to the Stool.
The move, according to the President, was remarkable and demonstrated Droboman’s commitment to peace and respect for tradition.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo admonished other Traditional authorities to emulate the example of the Drobo State towards ending chieftaincy disputes in the country.
