Nzema East MCE donates streetlights to Axim hospital

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, Hon. Frank Okpenyen popularly known as Fronko, has presented 10 modern streetlights worth GHC7,000 to Axim government hospital in a bid to improve the lighting systems in the area.

At the ceremony held at the hospital premises on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Hon. Okpenyen stated that the donation was in response to the request made by the hospital when he visited the hospital to ascertain some of the problems confronting them.

Hon. Okpenyen intimated that he was compelled to hasten and fact truck the donation process in the wake of the exigency of the situation at the hospital as repeated calls have come to him about no streetlights on the main entrance to inside which was putting lives of people who use the facility in great danger.

He added that he supplied them because most of the streetlights in the area were not functioning needed to be replaced.

According to him, it is necessary to beef up security at the hospital to protect lives and properties in the area.

"Human safety is my major concern and for that matter advancing the safety of constituents gives me joy and satisfaction as an MCE", he reiterated.

The MCE hinted that more of the streetlights will be provided from time to time by her to ensure that more streetlights are installed in all part of the Municipality to keep constituents properties safe.

"These streetlights that you see here, are modern and one cost us GHC700 and I hope it will be put into a good use", he revealed.

He used the opportunity to thank the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon Catherine Afeku for partnering him to donate the streetlights to the hospital.

He promised to work closely with the MP all the time to develop the Municipality.

The MCE pleaded with the people of the area to have confidence in the NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo to develop the area.

On his part, the Principal Health Services Administrator for the hospital, Mr. Dome Godswell thanked the MCE and MP for the kind gesture and appealed to them to do more for the hospital.

He used the occasion to pray to God and ask for God to bless them to work together and therefore develop the Municipality.

"In fact the MCE and MP are doing well and I pray to God that they will work together to bring more developments to the area and this donation will help to improve the health delivery of the hospital, we never thought this donation will come at this time, we are happy, God bless you and your MP", he emphasized.

The ceremony was graced by NPP party executives, members and constituents.
