Mr Michael Afedo, Headmaster of Alavanyo DD Basic School in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region has appealed for the primary school to be placed under the school feeding programme.
He said some of the pupils in the school lost their parents and caregivers to the Alavanyo and Nkonya land conflict, making feeding "a problem".
Mr Afedo made the appeal when Mama Awanyo I, Queenmother of Alavanyo Deme presented 55 dual desks to the school.
Mr Afedo said placing the school under the feeding programme would help maintain enrolment, irrespective of the state of the conflict.
He said the almost a century old conflict was affecting education in the two traditional areas, with increasing school drop outs and refusal of teachers to accept postings to the communities.
Mr Afedo said his school lacked textbooks, teaching materials, furniture and wateras well as proper sanitary facilities.
Mama Awanyo said her gesture was informed by the continued recording of zero per cent pass of the school in the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
She said after several efforts from members of the community, school leaders and opinion leaders a few teachers were posted to the school recently.
Mama Awanyo said the school virtually hinged on donations and appealed for special attention for the primary school, which reportedly has most of its pupils sitting on bare floors.
"The primary school is the foundation, and would need all the support. I call on all stakeholders including parents in particular to play their role", the Queenmother said.
Dr Bernice Heloo, Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency, donated two sets of computers, and promised to provide books for the establishment of a library.
Mr Teddy Ofori, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive announced a borehole project for the school and assured to include the school under the school feeding programme soon.
He donated a set of jerseys to the school and promised more support from the Assembly.
