Jomoro Municipal Assembly hands over 6-seater WC toilet facility to Ehoaka Basic School

The Jomoro Municipal Assembly in the Western Region has handed over a 6-seater water closet toilet facility to the Ehoaka M/A Basic School to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The Ehoaka M/A Basic School has been in dire need of toilet facility for so many years and this situation has been forcing school children to cross the main road to town to ease themselves.

Several appeals were made by the PTA to successive governments to come to their aid but all these appeals did not materialize but today under the leadership of Hon. Ernest Kofie, the MCE for the area, the school's burden has been resolved.

The 6-seater water closet toilet facility has been divided into two for both males and females. There is space where toiletries and other stationery that would be used at the facility could be kept safely.

Hon. Ernest Kofie, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area who handed over the facility to the school over the weekend, said it demonstrated government's commitment to improving sanitational infrastructure across the schools in the municipality.

He, therefore charged the Chief and people as well as the teachers and students of the school, to take proper care of the facility and regularly maintain to last longer.

He used the occasion to donate 69 pieces of school uniform to the Ehoaka Junior High School and promised to share some to the primary school.

He called on the students to take their studies seriously and benefit from the facility and also urged them to respect their teachers and parents.

"I call on all children here to be disciplined, attend school regularly and be serious with your studies", he said.

He called on the students and their parents to embrace good sanitation practices.

He said that "Being healthy is the greatest thing to have as individuals and as a community. We must all develop the habit of routinely cleaning our schools, homes, workplaces and open please and we must properly dispose of the waste we generate".

On his part, the Chief of the area, Nana Besiyi II, expressed his profound appreciation to the MCE and the Assembly for the unflinching support given to the school.

He charged the students and their teachers to take good care of the facility to prolong its lifespan.

He called on his people to rally behind the MCE and the NPP government to bring more developments to the area.



He seized the opportunity to appeal to the government to provide the school with a School Feeding Program.

The Municipal Education Director, Mr. George Effah hailed the MCE for the kind gesture and said it would go a long way to help improve sanitation and conducive environment of the school.

He added that the facility would also go a long way to improve quality education in the community asked the school to ensure that it was properly maintained.

Mr. Effah stressed that education was the best investment parents could make for their children and therefore appealed to other NGOs and well-to-do people to emulate the MCE and do same for other schools in the municipality.

On her part, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Dominic K. Ewu expressed his satisfaction with the toilet facility and asked God to bless the MCE for listening to their cries.

He pledged his total commitment to maintaining the facility to achieve its intended purposes.

He, therefore seized the occasion to appeal to his staff to do their best to impart knowledge into the students and added that the facility will improve effective teaching and learning in the school.

"Today, my students will not cross the main road to town to access toilet facilities and it will help improve effective teaching and learning in the school, I'm most grateful", he said.
