The Loyal Ladies, an all-female volunteer group, under the Youth Wing of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the weekend embarked on a health walk as part of commemoration of its anniversary.

Participants of the walk and fun fair, were members of the Greater Accra Regional branch of the group as well as other members of the party.

The walk begun at 6am from Okponglo through to University of Ghana, Atomic junction and ended at the Legon Botanical Gardens for the aerobic session and the fun fair.

The participants, who were largely females and members of the NPP Loyal Ladies and numbering close to 500, were also taken through motivational talk series after the walk.

Adwoa Pomaah Sanwu, Vice President of the NPP Loyal Ladies said, the walk was to celebrate their achievements since their establishment in March 2016.

She said their major achievement as a budding group, was winning the 2016 General elections convincingly for their party.

Asked about their role in the 2016 national election, she said the group toured the length and breadth of the country to mobilize support for the party, adding that, it was the support they garnered from women across the country that brought about the victory.

Madam Pomaah Sanwu said their core mandate as a group in the party, was to serve as an incubator to groom progressive women for the party and for the country.

She noted that apart from using the walk and fun fair to interact and deepen relationships among members, they would also use it as an opportunity to plan for the 2020 elections.

She urged all participants and members of her party to stay fit by exercising regularly and practicing good health habit.
